Tesla Issues Recall for Nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks Over Faulty Accelerator Pedals

CALIFORNIA (April 20, 2024) — Tesla has initiated a recall for all Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023, and April 4, 2024, due to a potentially dangerous issue with the accelerator pedal.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which issued the recall report, the defect could lead to the pedal being dislodged and trapped by the interior trim, significantly increasing the risk of a collision.
The problem was identified after Tesla received a customer complaint in March 2024. Further investigation revealed that the use of soap as a lubricant during assembly— a method not approved by regulatory standards—compromised the pedal’s attachment, prompting the company to conduct additional tests. These tests confirmed the defect, leading to the recall of nearly 4,000 vehicles.
To date, Tesla reports no collisions, injuries, or deaths associated with this issue. The company has committed to replacing or repairing the accelerator pedals free of charge for those affected.
This Tesla cybertruck recall follows another recent large-scale recall involving nearly 2.2 million Tesla vehicles sold in the U.S. due to non-compliance with federal safety standards regarding the display font size on the instrument panel.
Tesla owners can contact the manufacturer directly for further information and to arrange for necessary repairs. Those affected by this or similar vehicle safety issues may also consider consulting with legal experts specializing in automotive recalls to understand their rights and potential compensation.
