Toddler Behind Wheel in Woodland Crash that Killed 2-Year-Old, Police Confirm
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 20, 2024) — Woodland authorities have revealed a tragic turn of events in a devastating incident over the weekend. According to police reports on Monday, a toddler was behind the wheel of a truck involved in a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 2-year-old girl.
The heartbreaking incident unfolded at a 76 gas station, where the truck’s owner had momentarily left the vehicle running at a pump while stepping inside the store on Saturday. Unbeknownst to them, their 3-year-old child managed to unbuckle from their car seat and make their way into the driver’s seat.
Tragically, the truck began moving and struck 2-year-old Ailahni Sanchez Martinez, who was near her family’s taco stand at the edge of the lot. Despite immediate medical attention, Ailahni succumbed to her injuries.
The devastated family identified the young victim as Ailahni Sanchez Martinez, just a month shy of her third birthday. The Woodland community mourns the loss of this precious life as authorities continue their investigation into the tragic accident.
