Toddler Twins Hospitalized After Suspected Overdose in Winnetka

WINNETKA, CA (July 12, 2024) — Two three-year-old toddlers were rushed to the hospital following an apparent drug overdose in Los Angeles’ Winnetka neighborhood.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning in an apartment on the 20100 block of Sherman Way. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the toddlers, both boys, were found in cardiac arrest when officers and paramedics arrived around 11:15 a.m.
A neighbor, Chris Burko, described a frantic scene to KTLA, recounting his efforts to administer CPR to one child while realizing another was also in dire need. The children were subsequently transported to a local hospital, but their current conditions have not been disclosed as of Friday morning.
The circumstances leading to the suspected toddler overdose in Winnetka remain under investigation, with police treating the incident as suspicious. Authorities have not yet confirmed if any arrests have been made in connection to the event. Police maintained a presence at the apartment building for several hours to gather evidence and determine the events that led to the critical medical emergency.
