Tragic Hit-and-Run in Jefferson Park Ends in Double Fatality [Los Angeles, CA]

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 29, 2024) — Two lives were lost in a high-speed crash in Los Angeles’ Jefferson Park neighborhood on Thursday, according to authorities. 

The incident, which happened just before noon at the intersection of Arlington Avenue and 29th Street, involved a black BMW sedan slamming into a parked UPS truck at such force that it may have become airborne before wreaking havoc on several other vehicles.

Both passengers of the BMW, a woman in the front seat and a man in the back, were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department. The driver, after attempting to flee, was apprehended by vigilant bystanders who alerted the police, leading to his capture without further incident.

Initial investigations into the Jefferson Park hit-and-run suggest narcotics played a role in the catastrophic impact, which left the BMW severely mangled and the UPS truck with significant damage, among other vehicles. The driver now potentially faces murder charges, highlighting the grave consequences of reckless driving and substance impairment behind the wheel.
