Two in Hospital After Police Chase With Teen Drivers Ends in 3-Vehicle Crash [La Brea, CA]

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 18, 2024) — Two people were hospitalized following a police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle driven by two teen girls, which ended in a three-vehicle collision in South Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The South LA crash began around 6:15 p.m. when Los Angeles Police Department officers spotted a stolen white Kia on Obama Boulevard, according to LAPD South Traffic Division Sgt. Kevin Ahlemeir. The driver failed to yield, leading officers on a pursuit.
As the pursuit approached La Brea Avenue, the teenage driver of the Kia collided with a white Chevrolet U-Haul pickup truck and a BMW at the intersection. The crash caused significant damage to all three vehicles.
The U-Haul’s frontend was severely damaged, the driver’s side of the BMW was pushed inward with windows blown out, and the Kia also sustained front end damage with all vehicles’ airbags deploying.
Both the driver of the BMW and the pickup truck were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. It remains unclear if the teenage suspects were injured, but they were both taken into custody at the scene.
