Two Killed in Shasta County Crash on Highway 299

SHASTA, CA (August 15, 2024) — The California Highway Patrol reports that two men were killed in a crash along Highway 299 in Shasta County early Thursday morning. The CHP received an iPhone crash notification shortly after 2:15 a.m. for a collision near Blue Sky Road in the Bella Vista area.
Upon arrival, officers found the car overturned off the road, with both men inside deceased. Investigators believe the vehicle, traveling eastbound, hit a guardrail and flipped over a bridge. Police at the scene indicated that the driver was likely traveling at speeds exceeding 70 miles per hour.
The cause of the Shasta County crash remains under investigation.
