Two Million BLACK+DECKER Garment Steamers Recalled Due to Burn Risk

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 5, 2024) — Empower Brands has announced a major recall expansion for two million BLACK+DECKER Model HGS011 Easy Garment Steamers due to a serious burn hazard. Consumers are advised to immediately cease use of these devices and contact Empower Brands for a full refund.
The BLACK+DECKER garment steamer recall, initially issued in November 2022, was prompted by multiple reports of burn injuries from hot water expulsion. Despite earlier efforts to fix the issue through part replacements, the problem persisted. The recall now includes units sold at major retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Amazon, and spans purchases made from June 2021 to February 2024.
To date, 317 incidents of hot water ejection have been reported, including 82 burn injuries, with 19 of these burns occurring in units that were previously repaired or featured the updated design.
If you own one of the recalled steamers, prioritize your safety by stopping its use immediately. For your refund, contact Empower Brands directly. Protect your rights and well-being; if you have been injured by one of these recalled units, consider consulting with a defective product injury lawyer to discuss potential compensation. RTM Law Firm is ready to assist you in evaluating and pursuing your claim.
