Two Santa Paula Sisters Killed in Tragic Labor Day Crash in Inyo County

INYO COUNTY, CA (September 6, 2024) — Sisters Paula, Kaymen Dominguez, 21, and Kayelynn “Alex” Rieder, 15, tragically lost their lives in a rollover accident on Labor Day while returning from a family trip.
The crash took place on Highway 395, just south of Lone Pine in Inyo County, after a tire failure caused the SUV they were riding in to roll over, according to authorities and family members. Two other occupants in the crash in Inyo County survived with injuries, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.
Support for the grieving family has poured in from the Santa Paula community, with friends and family sharing messages of love and condolences on social media. By Friday, an online fundraiser had raised nearly $35,000 of its $40,000 goal to help the family.
Kayelynn, a junior at Santa Paula High School, was deeply involved in the school’s theater program, her family shared. The Santa Paula Unified School District acknowledged the loss in a social media post, encouraging students and staff to seek counseling during this difficult time.
