Woman Dies After Being Struck by Truck Performing Donuts in San Jose

SAN JOSE, CA (September 17, 2024) — An 18-year-old woman died after falling from a pickup truck performing donuts in a San Jose parking lot last week, authorities reported Monday. The incident, reportedly influenced by suspected alcohol use, unfolded late Friday on the 14900 block of Camden Avenue.
Upon investigation, police found the truck was driven recklessly with four adults inside. The victim, Paulina Verduzco Mendoza of Gilroy, was ejected from the vehicle and subsequently hit by it. Despite being transported to a hospital by the driver, she succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities have since arrested the driver, who now faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence, and booked him into Santa Clara County Jail.
