Woman Files Lawsuit Against Disneyland After Alleged Injury by ‘Goofy’
ANAHEIM, CA (April 13, 2024) — A woman is suing Disneyland Resort claiming she was permanently injured by a cast member dressed as Goofy during a visit to Disney California Adventure in April 2022.
Katrina Griffin alleges that while she was tying her daughter’s shoes, the character walked into her, causing her to fall onto the hard cement, with the costumed actor subsequently falling on her with full body weight.
The incident, detailed in a Disneyland injury lawsuit filed in Orange County Superior Court, reportedly led to “severe, traumatic, debilitating, and permanent injuries” requiring extensive medical treatment and causing significant emotional distress. Griffin is also suing the Goofy costume’s handler for failing to prevent the accident.
Disneyland has not yet responded to the allegations, and the identities of the cast members involved have not been disclosed in the lawsuit. Griffin seeks a jury trial to claim damages for healthcare costs, lost earnings, and permanent disability due to negligence.
