Woman Hospitalized After Multi-Vehicle Avondale Crash Leads to Gunfire
AVONDALE, CA (August 9, 2024) — A woman was hospitalized after a multi-vehicle car crash escalated into gunfire early Friday morning in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood.
The incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. when a Dodge Caravan traveling northbound on California Avenue collided with a stolen Honda and a Tesla at the Wellington Avenue intersection. Following the collision, three individuals exited the Dodge and began shooting at the Honda before fleeing the scene.
A 19-year-old pedestrian was struck in the shoulder and torso. She was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and is in good condition. No other injuries were reported from the Avondale crash. Area Five detectives are investigating.
