Woman Injured in Collision with Semi-Truck on SR-18

APPLE VALLEY, CA (August 6, 2024) — A woman was transported to a trauma center after a collision with a semi-truck on SR-18 Tuesday morning.
The incident happened at around 9:15 a.m. on August 6, 2024, about one mile east of Milpas Drive. It involved a white Toyota Camry and a Double Eagle tractor-trailer. Firefighters from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District arrived at the scene and requested a medical helicopter for the driver of the sedan.
The patient was initially taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center by ambulance and later flown to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. The woman in the sedan was reportedly traveling eastbound, while the semi-truck was heading westbound. For reasons still unknown, the sedan crossed into the westbound lanes.
The semi-truck driver attempted to avoid a near head-on collision by veering onto the left dirt shoulder. The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and was transported by ground ambulance. SR-18 was closed in both directions for about an hour. The California Highway Patrol Victorville Station is investigating the cause of the accident.
