Worker Dies in Heavy Equipment Accident at Bel-Air Job Site
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 28, 2024) — A construction worker was fatally injured Tuesday morning while operating heavy equipment at a residential job site in Bel-Air. The incident reportedly happened around 10 a.m. on West Chalon Road, where the unidentified man was working on a steep embankment.
Details of the accident at Bel-Air job site remain unclear, but footage from the scene shows a track loader or skid steer with an auger attachment parked at the base of the embankment. A tarp, typically used to cover a deceased person, was seen near the equipment.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene, but the man was already pronounced dead. His death is now under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner to determine the official cause. Cal/OSHA is expected to investigate the workplace safety conditions at the site.
