Young Driver Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 41 in Kings County

KINGS COUNTY, CA (August 31, 2024) — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Wednesday night on Highway 41 north of Nevada Avenue in Kings County. The crash involved a Toyota Tacoma driven by 26-year-old Cody Cantwell and a Toyota RAV4 driven by a 22-year-old man.
According to investigators, the RAV4 veered into the northbound lane and collided head-on with the Tacoma, causing the Tacoma to overturn. The 22-year-old driver of the RAV4 was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cantwell sustained minor injuries.
Authorities have stated that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the head-on collision on Highway 41.
