A man was arrested in Bakersfield after reportedly attempting to strike an officer with a car and initiating a police chase with kids in the car Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred when a local detective tried to issue an enforcement stop on the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect reportedly tried to hit him with the car and drive off, initiating a pursuit across a residential neighborhood.
Upon entering the neighborhood, the suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene, he was later tracked down to the backyard of a home in the 1400 block of Telegraph near Bakersfield College.
Allegedly the suspect was using the homeowner’s backyard as a hiding spot and was at the residence an hour before the incident. The suspect later surrendered and was promptly arrested.
