A suspected DUI driver was arrested Saturday night after leading police on a short pursuit that ended in a crash at Campus Avenue in San Bernardino County.
The incident began around 10 p.m. when an officer observed a white Audi run a stop sign at 7th Street and San Antonio Avenue. The driver pulled into a residential driveway but fled when approached, ignoring commands to turn off the engine.
During the pursuit, the suspect ran a red light at Campus Avenue and was struck by a southbound vehicle, causing the Audi to veer onto the sidewalk.
The driver, who sustained injuries, was hospitalized before being taken into custody for felony DUI and felony evading. The Audi’s female passenger and the other motorist both reported pain but were not critically injured.
Bodycam footage captured the initial stop attempt and the suspect’s attempt to flee.
