SANTA ANA, CA — A tragic night unfolded in Santa Ana when an SUV collided with a food truck, causing the vehicle to overturn and leaving the driver dead at the scene.
The SUV crash in Santa Ana happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday on West Warner Avenue, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. Witnesses reported that the collision was so severe that the food truck driver was ejected and pinned underneath the truck, making rescue efforts impossible.
A passenger in the food truck and the SUV driver were both transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, while authorities temporarily closed the roadway for investigation.
Police stated that DUI is not suspected, but it’s still unclear whether speeding was a contributing factor.
This fatal crash serves as a reminder of how vulnerable late-night workers and drivers are on Santa Ana’s streets, where serious traffic accidents continue to occur every year.
