LOS ANGELES, CA — A tragic crash on Los Angeles 10 Freeway in the Mid-City area caused a fire and left one person dead early Thursday morning. The accident, which involved a food truck and another vehicle, forced authorities to close several lanes for hours.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred around 2:17 a.m. near Crenshaw Boulevard. While the cause of the collision remains under investigation, the impact was so severe that the food truck burst into flames moments after the crash.
A 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and another man, 32, was taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.
All eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway were closed while crews worked to extinguish the fire and clear the wreckage. By 8:00 a.m., CHP officials reported that all lanes had reopened, except for the far-right lane, which remained closed for further investigation.
This tragic incident underscores the dangers of late-night crashes on high-traffic freeways like the I-10, where even a brief moment of distraction can have devastating consequences.
