MANTECA, CA — A crash at a busy intersection in Manteca left four people hospitalized, including two motorcyclists with serious injuries, authorities reported.
The traffic accident in Manteca happened around 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Main Street and Edison Street. According to Manteca Police, a van traveling south on Main Street attempted to make a left turn when it was struck by an oncoming motorcycle.
After the initial collision, the van lost control and crashed into an SUV stopped at the stop sign on Edison Street.
The two motorcyclists were immediately transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Police confirmed both were wearing helmets and conscious at the scene. The driver and passenger of the van were also taken to the hospital with complaints of pain, while the SUV driver reported minor discomfort but did not require hospitalization.
The Manteca Police Department continues to investigate the cause of the crash and has not yet determined whether negligence or failure to yield played a role.
Traffic in the area was partially closed for several hours as crews cleared the scene and conducted an investigation.
