SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was struck and killed by a trolley in Barrio Logan while fleeing the scene of a car accident.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened around 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of Logan Avenue and Sigsbee Street. A silver Honda and a black Acura collided at the intersection, causing property damage and at least one reported injury.
After the crash, the Acura driver — described as a Hispanic male — exited his vehicle and ran down Logan Avenue, apparently trying to flee. Just a few blocks away, near Main Street, he was fatally struck by a passing light rail train.
Emergency crews pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending family notification. The Honda driver sustained minor injuries, authorities said.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances that led to both the initial collision and the fatal pedestrian incident.
