
STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA — A violent crash followed by a vehicle fire left two people dead Tuesday morning in Hickman, within Stanislaus County.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision happened around 6:40 a.m. near Hickman Road and Cogswell Road, just south of Waterford. First responders arrived to find a 2012 Toyota sedan fully engulfed in flames, with no possibility of rescue for the two occupants, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators report the vehicle was heading north on Hickman Road when the driver lost control, veered off the roadway, and crashed into an elevated concrete irrigation box. The force of the impact is believed to have triggered the fiery crash in Stanislaus County.
CHP stated that it is still unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Authorities have not yet released the victims’ identities as the investigation continues.
