BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 7, 2024) — A family is mourning the loss of 15-year-old Jacob Gonzalez, who was killed in a crash last week while riding a mini-bike he built himself. His brother Kelvin survived but remains in shock.

The mini-bike crash in Bakersfield occurred close to their aunt’s house when they collided with a Jeep. The boys had been modifying the bike with parts from their aunt’s lawnmower, a testament to their mechanical ingenuity. However, this passion project took a tragic turn on River Boulevard.
The California Highway Patrol has reiterated that mini-bikes are not legal on public roads, a regulation underscored by this heart-wrenching event.
