EL DORADO, CA (February 13, 2024) — In a significant legal development, Refugio Jimenez Jr. has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter related to the 2020 El Dorado Fire in Southern California, ignited during a gender reveal event using a pyrotechnic device.
This tragic incident led to the death of firefighter Charles Morton and caused extensive damage.
Jimenez Jr. faces a year in jail, two years of probation, and 200 hours of community service, while Angelina Jimenez has been sentenced to probation and 400 hours of community service.
The couple is also responsible for nearly $1.8 million in restitution.
