Fiery Crash Ends High-Speed Chase in North Hollywood
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 11, 2024) — A high-speed pursuit of a reckless driver ended dramatically in North Hollywood on Wednesday, with the suspect’s vehicle crashing and catching fire.
According to local news sources, the chase began near Sheldon Street and Roscoe Boulevard when a gray BMW ran a red light right in front of Los Angeles Police officers, who then attempted to stop the vehicle.
Despite efforts to pull him over, the driver, previously engaged by police last week but not pursued due to certain conditions, accelerated away. The chase culminated on W. Emelita Street near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, where the suspect’s BMW collided with another car and burst into flames.
Fire crews were quick to extinguish the fire, but both the suspect and the other driver were taken to the hospital; their conditions remain undisclosed. The North Hollywood car crash is said to be the fourth pursuit involving this driver, who reportedly has previous convictions for felony evading in 2015 and 2017.
