CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA – A woman died Monday morning after a crash on northbound I-680 near Martinez.
The collision happened around 10:30 a.m. when the driver of a white Dodge Caravan lost control and veered off the freeway, just before the Marina Vista off-ramp.
The woman, who was a passenger, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver, also not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to a hospital with major injuries.
The crash prompted the closure of several lanes on I-680 as crews cleared the wreckage. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the car crash near Martinez.
