A dramatic incident in Boyle Heights involving federal agents and a suspected violent rioter has sparked public attention after surveillance footage showed a vehicle ramming and swift arrest by authorities.
The man arrested, identified as Christian Damian Cerno-Camacho, was reportedly involved in a clash during an anti-ICE demonstration.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Camacho had allegedly assaulted a U.S. Border Patrol agent during the riot before attempting to flee the scene in a white sedan.
Video footage shows two unmarked black SUVs intercepting Camacho’s vehicle and forcefully ramming it before several armed agents emerged with weapons drawn. Camacho exited his vehicle with his hands raised and was taken into custody without further resistance.
Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin described the maneuver as a “targeted arrest” of an individual who posed a threat to federal law enforcement. “This was not a hit-and-run,” McLaughlin said. “This was a lawful enforcement action involving a suspect who had just violently assaulted a federal officer.”
The arrest occurred amid growing tensions tied to anti-immigration enforcement demonstrations. The protests follow a surge in deportation operations and the deployment of thousands of National Guard and Marine personnel ordered by former President Trump.
The LAPD has acknowledged the incident and confirmed that it is investigating the circumstances, including whether proper coordination occurred between federal and local agencies. No charges have yet been filed against the federal officers involved.
Camacho remains in federal custody and is expected to face multiple charges, including assault on a federal officer and resisting arrest.
