
SAN DIEGO, CA – A 71-year-old man was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in San Ysidro on Friday night.
The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 8:52 p.m. on Via De San Ysidro. According to the San Diego Police Department, the man was attempting to cross from east to west when he ran into the northbound lanes. As he crossed, a vehicle, possibly a red Jeep, turned north onto Via De San Ysidro and struck the pedestrian.
The driver left the scene, and the man fell onto the street, sustaining a non-life-threatening leg fracture. He was transported to a hospital for treatment. The investigation into the hit-and-run in San Ysidro is ongoing, and authorities are unsure if alcohol was involved.
