SANTA CLARITA, CA (March 12, 2024) — Passengers aboard a Metrolink train in Santa Clarita found themselves evacuating due to a mechanical fault early Monday. 

The Metrolink train evacuation ordeal began around 10:30 a.m., unfolding in the 22000 block of Soledad Canyon Road, where initial reports of a fire were quickly reassessed as a less dire mechanical issue by Metrolink officials.

Despite the alarming circumstances, the response was orderly. By the time the Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene, all passengers had safely deboarded the train, congregating near the station under the watchful eye of SkyCal’s aerial coverage. Firefighters conducted a thorough survey of the area, ensuring no immediate danger to the public.

This incident involved a train on the Antelope Valley Line, destined for Union Station in Los Angeles from Lancaster Station.
