66-Year-Old Man Dies After Lemon Juice Tanker Flip in CA [Riverside, CA]

RIVERSIDE (February 22, 2024) — A Florida man succumbed to his injuries five days after a tanker truck accident in Southern California, marking a sorrowful conclusion to the incident. 

Joel Grimes, 66, from Lake Wales, was involved in the crash near the Cactus City rest stop, which resulted in the tanker, laden with lemon juice, overturning on Interstate 10 on February 14.

Although it has not been confirmed if Grimes was driving the tanker, he was the sole reported casualty in the accident, as stated by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s Bureau. 

The lemon juice tanker flip caused significant disruptions on the freeway, with the big rig blocking eastbound traffic lanes early that morning.

Grimes was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he was later pronounced dead. The incident has prompted an ongoing investigation by authorities to ascertain the precise circumstances surrounding the crash.
