A motorcyclist was killed early Monday in a collision with a pickup truck along Central Valley Highway, just south of Shafter.
The crash reportedly happened at approximately 3:47 a.m. when officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2025 Honda motorcycle.
According to preliminary findings from the California Highway Patrol, the Silverado was traveling southbound at high speed when the eastbound motorcycle reportedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign. The motorcyclist attempted to brake but entered the intersection directly in the path of the oncoming truck.
Investigators said the truck driver made an effort to swerve but was unable to avoid a collision. The impact ejected the rider from the motorcycle. The motorcyclist, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.
The roadway was temporarily closed while authorities conducted an on-site investigation. The cause of the crash remains under review, and no arrests or citations have been issued as of this writing.
