California Truck Bottlenecks Plague Long-Haul Drivers [Los Angeles, CA]

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 15, 2024) — Long-haul truck drivers navigating California’s highways face a relentless battle against congestion as truck bottlenecks persist, according to the latest findings from the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI). 

Annually, ATRI compiles its Truck Bottleneck List, shedding light on the most congested areas for truck traffic across the nation’s highway system.

Eight notorious California truck bottleneck spots have secured positions in the top 100 rankings, with three of them ranking within the top 20. These hotspots of frustration for truckers include:

• Los Angeles: Highway 60 at Highway 57 (Ranked No. 7)
• Los Angeles: I-710 at I-105 (Ranked No. 11)
• Ontario: I-10 at I-15 (Ranked No. 18)
• Corona: I-15 at Highway 91 (Ranked No. 42)
• Oakland: I-880 at I-238 (Ranked No. 45)
• Los Angeles: I-110 at I-105 (Ranked No. 60)
• Los Angeles: Highway 91 at Highway 55 (Ranked No. 87)
• Oakland: I-80 at I-580/I-880 (Ranked No. 96)

The top bottleneck in America, however, was identified at I-95 and Highway 4 in Fort Lee, New Jersey, followed closely by congested areas near Chicago.

Beyond mere inconvenience for drivers stuck in traffic snarls, these bottlenecks spell trouble for supply chains and incur heightened freight costs, warns the California Trucking Association. The ripple effects of delays can disrupt schedules, strain resources, and ultimately impact the economy at large.
